Password
Policy
Keeping
the password for your web hosting account secure is very important.
If someone was able to gain unauthorised access to your account
they could cause significant damage to your business by placing
defamatory content in place of your website.
We
strongly encourage all users to adopt secure passwords, this means,
you should:
- Do not
use the same password as used on other accounts, programs, pin
numbers etc.
- Do not
use passwords derived from personal information such as names,
birth dates etc.
- You should
include a combination of both numbers, letters and punctuation
characters in your password.
- You should
include a combination of upper and lower case characters in
your password.
- You should
change passwords on a regular basis, every 3-4 months is recommended.
- Your password
must be at least 6 characters in length.
Under
no circumstances should users include usernames and passwords in
files stored on the web hosting account even if the files are not
linked to webpages.
Users
should also avoid selecting the 'save password' option on FTP clients.
